Director of Development

This position at Devon Preparatory School reports directly to the Senior Leadership Team. The position is full time, 12 months, and is benefits eligible.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that is coordinated with the mission and vision of the Senior Leadership Team.
  2. Oversee all aspects of fundraising at Devon Prep.
  3. Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing donors that allow the school to meet its budgeted fundraising goals each year.
  4. Work directly with the Senior Leadership Team to discuss and identify fundraising goals that align with the vision of the institution.
  5. Manage the Development Associate and work collaboratively with the Alumni Relations Office and the Social Media Strategist to promote a unified presentation to donors interested in making contributions to Devon Prep.
  6. Create and professionally distribute marketing and communication materials that assist with donor engagement.
  7. Properly record and report all donated funds through our software systems while also providing direct reporting of those funds to the Finance and Administration Office. 
  8. Provide detailed analysis of donor trends and fundraising data to help inform institutional strategies and goals.
  9. Report directly to the Senior Leadership Team on a regular basis as scheduled.
  10.  Hold a series of fundraising events during the year that promote engagement and lead to relationship-building that will promote giving. The series of events will be discussed and agreed upon prior to the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
  11. Utilize technology we already have to identify possible donors and engage with those donors through dinners and other social outings outside of school.
  12. Prepare the Annual Report of all fundraising that will be published and distributed to the school community as part of the Annual Appeal.  Coordinating with the Senior Leadership Team on the content of the Annual Report and Annual Appeal.   
  13. Other duties as determined by the Senior Leadership Team which may include collaborating with Board members on capital campaigns, researching best practices, etc.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a related field with an advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in development and fundraising with preference for those who have worked   in a school and/or nonprofit setting.
  • Experience in soliciting for large gifts and capital campaigns.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a MUST.
  • Significant prior work experience in project management with the ability to meet both short and long term goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team with a diverse group of people.
