Patrick Martín
Born and raised in the Philippines, Mr. Martín immigrated to the
United States at age ten and grew up in San Francisco, where he
benefitted from a Catholic education through middle and high
school. He earned a B.A. in English-Writing from St. Lawrence
University in New York and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from
Chapman University in California. Teaching has been a lifelong
vocation, instilled by the many teachers and coaches in his own
family, infused by the experience of being a big brother to seven
boys, and inspired by the many Catholic educators who taught him
that faith leads to community, which leads to service of others.
Over the past twenty-five years, this calling has led him to live and
teach across three continents, often in service to the poor and
marginalized. His wife, two children, and a tuxedo cat have decided
to grow their roots in Pennsylvania. Outside of school, Mr. Martín
enjoys writing, art, coaching his son’s hockey team, and even
playing goalie in a men’s league.
