Melanie Kingett

Mrs. Melanie Kingett is the Coordinator of Academic Programs, 6th Grade Coordinator and a science teacher at Devon Preparatory School. Originally from Connecticut, she came to Philadelphia to receive a B.S. in Biology and B.A. in Latin from St. Joseph’s University. She first taught Biology at the Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, but transitioned to Devon Prep in 2010 after talks of camping trips, an anatomy and physiology course, and Star Trek puns. Melanie continued her education while teaching, obtaining her Secondary Certification in Biology and M.Ed. from Cabrini College.  She has come to love and understand the “Devon Difference” and is a member of the “Seven Year Club” with the graduating class of 2017. Although she has moderated several clubs ranging from guitar to ballroom dance, she is most proud of having coached the Middle School Science Olympiad Team, which ranked 5th in the state in 2015. Mrs. Kingett teaches Molecular Biology and AP Biology and currently resides in Drexel Hill with her husband, son and English bulldog.
