Marrea Walker Smith
Innovative educator with more than 20 years of experience in design thinking, teaching, business, and government relations. Walker-Smith worked for 10 years as an adjunct professor at several colleges and universities in the region. As a member of the Devon Preparatory School faculty, she teaches business, economics, entrepreneurship, marketing, and human rights and social justice courses. She provides students with real-life simulated learning experiences in the classroom. She is active with the Devon Preparatory School Future Business Leaders of America Club and DECA.
While working toward her bachelor’s degree in political science from Delaware State University, she was selected to participate in President Clinton’s pilot program for national service. Walker-Smith holds a master’s degree in English & Publishing on digital design track from Rosemont College. She also earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Widener University. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctorate in Education from Cabrini University. Walker-Smith earned a Six Sigma Green Belt in Healthcare from Villanova University. She received a certificate in Digital Marketing: Customer Engagement, Social Media, Planning & Analytics at Columbia Business School – Emeritus and attended training with the Federal Reserve Bank Economics for Teachers, Foundation for Teaching Economics, and Next Generation Personal Finance. She is also a partner with the Harvard University – Case Methods Institute in which she uses case-based teachings to engage students and strengthen critical thinking skills.
In 2017, she launched a start-up education company and was recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal as a 2018 Woman of Distinction for her professional achievements, dedication to mentorship, and community involvement and Main Line Today Magazine as a 2018 Healthcare Hero. She is a well-respected business consultant for government and business organizations throughout Pennsylvania. Walker-Smith is on the Board of Directors for several organizations in the region and volunteers her time helping nonprofits with business and marketing. Walker-Smith is dedicated to providing students with opportunities to build professional networks, internship experiences, and cultural connections to prepare them for college and the workforce. She enjoys reading, research, laughing, dancing, and spending time with her family. She was raised in the City of Chester, but now resides in West Bradford Township with her husband (Kirk), daughter (Milan), dog (Axel) and guinea pig (Foles).
