Devon Preparatory School a Catholic, college preparatory school for young men in grade six to twelve, is seeking an on-call substitute teacher to join our faculty and to start immediately.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position of Substitute Teacher will report directly to the Business Office.  The substitute teacher will instruct students and facilitate their learning in the absence of the regular teacher and performs other related duties as assigned. Some days the substitute will be scheduled in advance and other days it will be on-call.

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
    • Supervises students
    • Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
    • Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
    • Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
    • Maintains a professional appearance as an example to students.
    • Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal.
    • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    • Maintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
    • Communicates effectively with parents when needed.
    • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Devon Preparatory School a Catholic, college preparatory school for young men in grade six to twelve, is seeking a Kitchen Staff Worker to join our Food Services Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position of Kitchen Staff Worker will report directly to the Food Service Manager.  The Kitchen Staff Worker is responsible for providing the highest quality of service to students, parents, and staff at all times.

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

The kitchen staff worker will:

    • Prepare daily menu items according to Food Service Manager’s specifications.
    • Complete setup, service and closing duties in all areas of operation.
    • Perform food preparation, display food items as trained and replenish as needed.
    • Perform cashiering duties, as required.
    • Provide guidance and training to other employees performing related work, if needed.
    • Follow wrap, label, date procedures for all food products and return to designated areas. Practice FIFO procedure on all products.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and complete daily and weekly cleaning as assigned by Food Services Manager.
    • Ensure that food sanitation practices are followed. Carry and distribute food supplies and equipment and assist others in the preparation of food.
    • Notify managers of maintenance issues.
    • Maintain professional and appropriate relations with all students and parents at all times.
    • Maintain knowledge of school property and staff as necessary to perform assigned duties.
    • Report all accidents to the kitchen manager immediately.
    • Ensure security and confidentiality of all student and staff information.
    • Attend work on time as scheduled and adhere to the attendance policy.
    • Participate in departmental meetings and training.
    • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and climb.
  • Must be able to push and pull heavy loads.

Candidates should be able to:

    • Regularly lift, carry or otherwise move up to 50 lbs.
  • Follow proper moving and lifting procedures.

School Bus Driver – After School Athletics/Activities

10 month Part-time- 5-6 days/week (must be flexible for Saturday morning and evenings)

Monday- Friday: Must be available after 1:00 PM.

 

Devon Preparatory School a Catholic, college preparatory school for young men in grade six to twelve, is seeking a season bus driver to join our Transportation Department to start immediately. This is a seasonal position. Applicants should be available for both morning and afternoon during the week.  This position may also include being responsible for taking sports teams to their away matches, waiting until the contests conclude, then returning them back to schools campus. Pick up times can vary depending on the location for that event. Van/Bus Driver will be responsible for transporting children from school to home or from home to schoolThe driverer will pick up children alonthe g scheduled route and ensures they remain in their seats until they reach their destination.  Must have prior experience driving a school bus.  The position of Van/Bus Driver will report directly to the Director of Transportation.

 

Duties include any or all of the following list of essential duties and responsibilities:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Transport children to and from school.
  • Pick up children along scheduled routes at the same time every day.
  • Before stopping, operate stop sign and flashing lights on bus to alert traffic.
  • Pick up students in the morning and return them home or to the designated bus stop in the afternoon.
  • Check the bus/van tires, lights, and oil and do other basic maintenance.
  • Pick up and drop off kids at designated locations.
  • Follow a planned route on a time schedule.
  • Help disabled children get on and off the bus.
  • Ensure children stay in their seat at all times.
  • Discipline unruly children.
  • Follow traffic laws and state and federal transit regulations
  • Follow safety procedures to make sure they and all kids are safe
  • Keep passengers informed of possible delays.
  • Listen to alerts about bad weather.
  • Carefully navigate roads and watch for ice, debris, or slippery spots.
  • Report accidents immediately.
  • Call police during an emergency.
  • Work at school in other occupations, such as janitors, cafeteria workers, or mechanics, between morning and afternoon trips.
  • Drive students to field trips, sporting events, and other activities.
  • Enforce rules regarding conduct.

Devon Prep’s Transportation staff has frequent encounters with visitors, students, faculty and staff throughout the campus and off campus. It is important to maintain a helpful, positive demeanor while interacting with these individuals. Bus Driver reports directly to the Director of Transportation but may be directed by other Administration during the day if emergencies arise.

NATURE OF SUPERVISION

Bus Driver is supervised directly by the Director of Transportation and takes direction when needed from the Administration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should have the following qualifications

  • Preferably 2-5 years driving experience.
  • PA CDL class B License
  • Passenger (P) Endorsement
  • School Bus (S) Endorsement
  • Air Brake Endorsement

  • FBI Fingerprinting
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Protecting God’s Children (Philadelphia Archdiocese requirement) Part I & II

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position of Lacrosse Head Coach is open immediately and will report directly to the Director of Athletics.  The Lacrosse Head Coach is responsible for overseeing the Middle School boys’ lacrosse team.

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • The Lacrosse Coach will develop the skill of all players in the program and perform other related duties as assigned.
