Devon Prep vs Father Judge, Bonner and Prendergast, Archbishop Carroll – Game Recaps

With the change in season comes the the change in sport. Ladies and Gentlemen, basketball season is upon us. The team is looking to have much success this year against fierce competition from other staunch opponents. After joining the Philadelphia Catholic League, Coach Jason Fisher made it his mission to take the league on by storm. The University of Scranton hall of famer has changed the culture of the Devon Prep Basketball Program over the last few years. This season is no different. There is one goal in mind, and that is to win. Let’s take a look at how the team has done this season in the PCL.

On December 20, Devon faced off against their first PCL opponent, Father Judge. There was much anticipation for this game, and in the end the greater team won. The game started in typical Devon fashion as the Tide took an early double-digit lead. Judge would respond in the second half, cutting the deficit. In the end, Devon secured the victory and thus made history. Having been in the newly revised gym, the student section helped to disrupt Judge’s offense and build momentum for the tide. During this school year, both the soccer and basketball teams won their first game in the PCL.

Their next PCL game was against Bonner and Prendergast on January 7. Unfortunately, Devon was not able to continue their winning streak, suffering a 58-27 loss. Bonner is certainly a very talented team with a few college prospects. The Tide could simply not match their intensity. Hopefully, they can learn from this rough loss.

The very next day, the Tide faced off against Archbishop Carroll back in the Devon Arena. A lackluster student section and an obvious size advantage gave Carroll the edge over the Tide. With the slew of games fast approaching, Coach Fisher and his team will look to shift gears in order to win.

The team now sits at 10th place at 1-2. Hopefully, they can cut their losing streak against a tough Neumann-Goretti team on Tuesday. Roll Tide!
