Devon Prep named Mr. Joe Lore as Head Coach for the upper school Lacrosse team.  Mr. Pat Filippelli was named Assistant Coach.

Coach Lore has been involved with the game of lacrosse for 42 years, as a player, coach and official.  Prior to Devon Prep, he coached lacrosse teams at Cherry Hill West High School in New Jersey, Upper Dublin High School and Manhasset High School on Long Island, NY.

Lore spent 7 years as a boys high school lacrosse official in New Jersey and founded the South Jersey Boys Lacrosse Officials Association (SJBLOA).  He is also one of the founders of the South Jersey Youth Lacrosse League (SJYLax) which includes more than 2500 players.

Originally from Long Island, Lore played lacrosse at Sewanhaka High School, Nassau Community College and Cortland State University.  Each summer, he coaches at the Johns Hopkins University Blue Jay Boys Lacrosse Teaching Camps in Baltimore, Maryland.

Lore is looking forward to building the program at Devon Prep, now in its fourth year as a varsity program. "The 2011 season appears very bright," he said. "Coach Filippelli and I are looking forward to working with the team. We have a solid core group of returning players as well as some talented newcomers."

Assistant Coach Filipelli, a native of Devon, started playing lacrosse in third grade for Conestoga Youth Lacrosse. He continued playing lacrosse at Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor where he was a 4 year starter and at Dickinson College where he played 4 years as a short stick defensive Midfielder. He graduated from Dickinson in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in biology.

Devon Prep’s 2011 season features 10 non-league contests to complement 8 Bicentennial Athletic League games. A first ever home tournament is scheduled for Friday, March 25th and Saturday, March 26th. Home games are played on a turf field at YSC Sports in Wayne, PA.
