Recent Devon Prep Graduate Publishes First Novel
By the end of their senior year in high school, most students are busy getting ready to graduate and preparing for college. For Class of 2009 graduate Richard M. Say his senior year also included completing his first novel.
“The Cold War Turned Hot,” is a 264 page historic fiction about a war between the USSR and the USA. “I’ve always been fascinated with military history,” said Richard. “I think most historians would agree that if the US and the USSR had gone to war, the outcome would have been anything but predictable.”
His motivation came from a dream about what turned out to be his first chapter. After writing nearly 100 pages, he decided it was something he should complete. He worked on the book throughout his high school years and with help from two Devon Prep faculty members he was able to finish writing it this past spring.
“I really wanted to do something besides play video games all summer,” he explained. “I finished writing it this past February and after six months I finally succeeded in getting it published.”
The Cold War Turned Hot is available in hardcover and paperback through Amazon.com (http://tinyurl.com/msajaa) or Authorhouse.com (http://tinyurl.com/l6k8vd).
While at Devon Prep Richard was an honor student and an AP Scholar. He plans to attend American University in the fall.
