The Theater Program at Devon Prep
The Theater Program at Devon Prep includes a Fall Play and Spring Musical as well as a Drama Club. The musicals are run and coordinated in partnership with our sister schools, giving the boys an opportunity to socialize and artistically express with their peers. There is also a full stage crew for the Spring Musical which gives the boys the opportunity to build stage sets, manage lights and sounds as well as understand the inner workings of putting together a theater production.
The Drama Club is another in-school opportunity for the boys to practice monologues and take part in the exploration of theater as a medium of expression. Field trips to professional productions in Philadelphia are one of the highlights of this club. Between practicing their monologues and gaining confidence in ability, students gain hands on theater experience.
“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”
This year’s spring musical, directed by Paul Recupero, was based on the biblical story of Joseph, a young man who follows his heart, refusing to allow obstacles to deter him from achieving his ambitions and showing forgiveness and love to those who have betrayed him.
This musical was a reinforcement of the deep Catholic faith at Devon Prep while also celebrating the individuality that is apparent in all of us.
Despite the power loss that Devon Prep had to endure due to a strong Nor’easter and that resulted in a few postponements, the team kept it together and put on two unforgettable shows.
Please review the program below and take note of our many talented cast and stage crew members as well as directors and production team. YOU ROCKED!
